THIS was the original "Spiderman" film, not Sam Raimi's versions.

It annoys me that, when "Spiderman" movies are discussed, they are the Sam Raimi ones starring Tobey Macguire, the ones with Andrew Garfield or the new ones upcoming with Tom Holland.

Yet no-one mentions the pilot of this TV series, which I saw in a CINEMA. Since it got a "theatrical release" it should count as a "Spiderman" movie.

Yet every article I read on most mainstream sites act like no superhero films existed until 30 years ago.

This and the old Captain America movies made in the 1970's were awesome. I loved this stuff. I always considered this the original as well.

Also, apparently there has been another "Hulk" movie, besides the Eric Bana and Edward Norton ones, because the pilot of the "Incredible Hulk" TV series, starring Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno, got a theatrical release, meaning that it, too, was the "original" Hulk theatrical movie.

Same with the "Batman" 60's TV series, which had a movie, shown in cinemas, that had The Riddler, Joker, Penguin and Catwoman as villians, had Batman use shark-repellant, and had Batman say how some days, it is hard to get rid of a bomb.

Maybe because this show has mostly been forgotten about cause it wasn't as big of a hit as the Hulk show of the time and also because it doesn't even have hardly any characters from the comics in it aside from Jameson, Peter, and Aunt May. I only ever saw a few episodes as a kid on a VHS tape. Wasn't too impressed with it, I'm afraid.

I was born way after this was on TV but it was my first Spider-Man, alongside the 80s cartoons which I'd watch on VHS. I got my parents to rent The Chinese Web so many times and I'd try to watch it on Sci-Fi whenever they showed Marvel stuff or the series. I even remember when Rhino released some VHS and the public library had it. I called Rhino trying to see if they had a catalog to get my own copies but they only sent it to stores and I was a kid.

I was the only kid I knew that cared for this version of Spidey. I'd draw Spidey, with his visible lenses, utility belt and web shooter alongside Ferrigno Hulk, Reb Brown Cap, 70s Dr Strange, and the Daredevil and Thor from the Hulk movies as some sort of live-action super team. I didn't even imagine there would be Avengers movies back then.
