Timeline

first radioactive bomb set off by 5 terrorists
2 million years before the radioactive clouds part to allow some sun in.
Handful of humanity is left alive most are mutants, elves and fairies come out of their hole time passes.
Deelia gives birth at feast of plenty celebrating 3 thousand years of peace.
"The years went by" Deelia dies, Avatar blackwolf battle.
3000 THOUSAND YEARS later
Blackwolf finds a projector with Nazi Propaganda films and uses that to motivate his troops for battle.

So the racist elves have been living in their stagnant civilization for many many years, killing mutants when they feel like it (reference trench pep talk)

I suppose I'm alone in saying that the elves and fairies deserved to be wiped out, especially after the fairy "king" makes his noninterference choice.
