Plot of Wizards in relation to gun control
*In case you are stupid, this post contains SPOILERS for a 38 year old movie. Go watch it and come back.*
Now that that's out of the way, any thoughts on "Wizards" and gun control? I don't think that was the point of the movie, but it raises an interesting discussion.
My take: It goes back to "If guns are outlawed, then only outlaws have guns." The elves had bows and arrows, and were shooting people too, not to mention stabbing things with swords. The guns and tanks created more destruction on a bigger scale, but it's not like the fairies and elves were pacifists. Weehawk tried to kill a bunch of characters before hearing their side of the story. Peace shot that monster that was trying to kill Weehawk, and saved his life.
In the end, Avatar used a gun to end the war. (He made sure to do it with no witnesses present.) A gun in the hands of one man brought peace. Would it have been the same if he zapped Blackwolf with a lightning bolt? I bet that wouldn't have worked... Blackwolf was expecting that. He wasn't expecting a gun from Avatar. Maybe Avatar was just giving Blackwolf a taste of his own medicine.
So guns are bad weapons, but bows and swords are okay weapons?
The ideas Blackwolf had and communicated via the Nazi films seemed to be the really evil thing.
There is no objective reality... and that's Sucker Punch
