Coming from an Italian horror/thriller collector....
... Mother Of Tears is terrible!!!... some nice kill scenes... but the rest is very disappointing.
I just posted my Italian horror/thriller collection on the message board for Suspiria... check it out... I recommend all of those films!!
I saw it 8 years ago and i remember thinking it was pretty good, fast paced and gory...not as gorgeous as "Suspiria" and "Inferno" but still very entertaining.

THe opening museum mruder scene was very good, i also liked the scene with Udo Kier and the demise of the lesbian good witches, very cruel, nasty...the long shot tracking Asia Argento in the witches's lair was also impressive.
You seem to really appreciate "imagery" in horror films.... probably don't need to tell you... but Mario Bava is the master of "horror imagery"... still to this day, no other director has done "so much with so little".
And he did the special effects for "Inferno"... which of course is tame by Dario Argento standards of gore... but Mario Bava started the Italian horror genre, and he started it 13 years before Dario Argento directed his first feature film. The "mirror" scene near the end of "Inferno" was an effect "way ahead of it's time".
