When I was a little kid the dog scene did a number on me, anyone else?

I love horror films. Low-budget or expensive, overrated or underrated, I watch them for fun regardless of their quality and hope to find good ones. This stared when I was in the first grade - I was an oddball kid - and my first horror film was Suspiria. I was fine with the intro scene and the nosebleed scene and even the raining maggot scene - but no idea why, the scene with the dog ripping out the blind guy's throat disturbed me. I wouldn't say I was necessarily afraid of the scene, but certainly I thought it was sad. I mean, the character never seems to bother anyone or get in the way of anything, so it seemed unbelievably cruel to me at the time. These days not so much because most horror films feature innocent people getting knocked off for no reason, but the dog scene still creeps me out every so often. Anyone else in the same boat?

I don't care if it is a spoiler, what is the dog scene? I have wanted to see this for years and when I told a friend that is also a horror fan about it he ordered a copy for us to watch. Aside from graphic rape I can handle anything done to humans, but I can't stand scenes with animal torture/killing. I work rescue so I see enough already; it won't be easier but it would be nice to be prepared.

If it is just a dog killing a human I am fine with that.

A dog attacks it's owner (who is blind) and chews his throat out. The film is really good, though. I hope you'll like it as much as I do.

Same here. I can handle pretty much anything to do with humans, but when it comes to animals, dogs in particular, getting hurt, it really upsets me. That scene with the dog and the blind man really did disturb me though :(

I think the opening death scene is freakier.
