Do SUSPIRIA, INFERNO and MOTHER OF TEARS take place in...
... the same universe?
shareyes... same world that isn't really intended to be "fictional"... many believe witches exist, but we wouldn't be aware of them... unless we are looking for the 'signs'... and these signs exist in the 'real world'... not typical witches with "magic powers" like in these films... but evil people corrupted and bent on destruction.
There have been world/religious leaders (some of the evilest people in history)... and the ability to put a "veil" over the "mass populace's" eyes with lies is a form of "modern witchcraft"... which is very real.
The entire "Spanish Inquisition", "Hitler", "Stalin", "Rasputin", many Roman Emperors during the "Roman Decadence era"... the list goes on and on.
Just my take...
I meant: Are they canon?
sharesorry bud... I have no idea what you are talking about.
shareYes, they're supposed to make up a trilogy.
shareI read somewhere that they're only a spiritual trilogy.
shareIt's all in the same "universe"... the "3 mothers" are all in separate parts of the world... one in Germany, one in Italy and one in America.
shareYep. I remember first watching them at 18 or 19, I was blown away. I love Foreign Horror because different methods are used in different cultures to scare the viewer... And in Argento's case, he believed in the occult, witchcraft or whatever you may call it. So he didn't make films in the same way as alot of Horror Directors. Robert Eggers just did a similar approach with 'The Witch.' He read about 17th Century America and realized that Fact and Mythology were the same thing. There wasn't any inbetween. It adds another element IMO
shareThey're sequels to Suspiria.
