How do you get from getting skin grafts on your burns to growing a dog's penis with a stinger on the end of it in a hole in your armpit? I love sci-fi and I'm cool with some out there ideas but this one made absolutely no sense.
They were modifying the graft cells so that they would change to suit whatever new location they were placed. So I guess the idea is that cells that can change into anything...can change into anything

This is no zombie movie. She is truly, merely, completely dead, probably from injuries suffered in the attack.
No evidence of the disease on her disposed corpse. Not sure how she ended up there, actually.

I thought of it like this: The "neutral" cell acted like a cancer and metastasized to another part of her body effecting her digestive system and forming the growth appendage.
