It is always interesting to see how the times have changed, and this message board is proof of that.

It used to be that suggestion of a "blood test" meant marriage (and some do not know that antiquated piece of info) and would be what might happen BEFORE one becomes intimate due to reasonings had with the production of healthy children.

Now, a "blood test" would come BEFORE intimacy because people do not want to be vulnerable to disease.

I didn't understand that part at first. After thinking about it, I realized he meant something other than AIDS since that hadn't happened yet.

The reason blood tests used to be required before issuing a marriage license was to prove that neither party had syphilis. The reason for getting a blood test then and now was to stop the spread of STDs.
