Can this even qualify as a sports flick?
It HARDLY has to do with racing, it's more of a love story.

True true, I just watched this film for the 2nd time & I honestly believe this & Author Author are the most underrated Pacino films. I really love this but very tragic indeed.:(
Whenever I get the urge to exercise, I lie down until it passes.
It's not a sport flick by any stretch of the imagination, which is probably why I liked it. As always, Pacino delivers a very strong performance, back when his performances could be called "nuanced." I can't say I love this film because I found the female lead extremely irritating (is that the point?), but Al delivers the goods.
And, based on your recommendation, I'm going to finally watch my copy of "Author Author."
