Which departure was sadder: The Ropers or Chrissy

It was a completely different show by the end of S5

The Ropers at the end of S3 because of the Spinoff that Norman Fell was against

Chrissy during the middle of S5 because of Suzanne Somers wanting to get paid the same as John Ritter.

I liked Chrissy but it was worse when the Ropers left. Don Knots was a wonderful talent but his character was too zany and child-like. They needed Mr Roper as the crabby, somewhat intimidating landlord for that light and shade dynamic. And his relationship with his wife was pretty funny, which added another dynamic between the swinging single and married forever lifestyles.

The ROEPERS made the show, but the spinoff?? Not so much and didn't last long

neither, I think the show got better when both left. Mr Furley was even funnier and Terri was great.

The Ropers, definitely.

Chrissy is my least favorite of the main cast. I thought Terry was better, and they should never have fired Cindy. Cindy was the hottest of anyone on the show. Also, her character was funny. I really don’t understand why the producers thought she didn’t have the comedy chops. All the psychical comedy with Jack was great.
