I agree...

I'm about half way thru the mini-series, (first time seeing it), and I loved the relationship between the 2 of them right to the end.

Another tear jerker scene is when Chicken George was being let out to the Englishman for cockfight training to pay off Tom Moore's gambling loss. George was leaving his wife and children and knew he would not being seeing them for many years.

I can't imagine the torment that anyone under those circumstances would experience. Saw it last night on TV and I still teared up.

When George came home a decade later the reunion scene with his wife and kids also got me. No onions to blame either.
