I was watching his magnificent performance in JofN today (it being Easter an all) and was completely shocked to learn that he died earlier this year. He had a real screen presence about him, and absolutely suited this role perfectly.

Its origin and purpose, still a total mystery

It was probably the best role Farentino ever had, and boy he sure made the most of it. Such high-octane vitriol and passion...and wonderfully tender moments, too - his reconciling with Levi/Matthew, and his remorse after denying Jesus three times. Farentino more than held his own in a company of peerless British actors.

When I think of The Apostle Peter I see this man... He played St Peter perfectly... RIP...
