What I alwyas wondered through the whole series was why neither of the two boys tried to hit on her or take her out on a date.. Were the two boys gay?

Frank and Joe both had girlfriends, Callie Shaw and Iola Morton. Even though Iola or her brother Chet, the Hardy's best friend, were never shown on this show.
Callie Shaw was in a few episodes played by Lisa Eilbacher, who went on to play Axel Foley's old friend Jenny Summers in Beverly Hills Cop.

I love this show but man they really messed up on some of the characters. They made Callie simply seem like Mr. Hardy's employee and a casual friend of Frank and Joe. They removed her after season 1. Let's not even talk about how bad they messed up Nancy's friends (Ned and George).

The Hardy Boys didn't live near her. I think they were New Englanders and Nancy lived in New York State somewhere. They had a couple of cross-over episodes but they didn't have any other contact.
GAY! The guys had all kinds of girlfriends, throughout the show. Sometimes, just one of them and sometimes both would have a girl in the same episode!
