One of My Personal Faves

I used to love this show as a kid. Any tv show or movie pertaining to a mystery story had me captivated. I would put the "Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew" series in my top 3 favorite shows growing up. My number one favorite was "Charlies' Angels" and the other one was "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century." Ha Ha ! I know, especially the last one!! Anyway, I bought Season 1 of the "Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew" on DVD a while ago and watched the whole thing. I enjoyed the "Nancy Drew" series even more. My favorite was the episode with the haunted lighthouse. My favorite "Hardy Boys" episode was the one with the haunted house with the guy in the James Bond movies who played Jaws. He was playing Frankenstein in the Hardy Boys. The minute I saw him I said, "there's Jaws from the Spy who Loved Me and Moonraker!!!" I know. I've got to get out more! Highly cheesy dialogue + 70's Clothes and hairstyles + a limited budget + obvious re-used sets + great childhood nostalgia = one great show to be enjoyed all over again as an adult 30 years later. This show gets an A in my book for bringing back enjoyable memories. I hope they will release Season 3 very soon!!!!!

I love the Hardy Boys Nancy Drew Mysteries! I still haven't bought season 2 yet. Call me weird but I personally like the 70's. I Like the music and clothing way better than my generation. I'm 15 and I wish I lived as a teen in the 70's. So watching a show like this gives me a feel of what it would be like back in the day. Pamela Sue Martin does an awesome job playing the part of Nancy Drew. And Shauwn Cassidy is such a hottie! I also like watching the partridge family, charlie's angels, the monkees, the waltons, little house on the prarie, I love all thoose old shows!

I even have record albums of Shaun Cassidy hanging on my wall

That's cool. I'm 38 and I was a kid when those shows that you like were on. I was a teenager in the 80's but I always enjoyed 70's music and tv shows so much more!

I'm 30 and loved watching these in reruns in the very very early 80s - I almost couldn't remember it. Anyway I have both season 1 and 2 on dvd and they are the highlight of my dvd collection - especially with the retro artwork for the 2nd season.

I also love the feelgood factor attached to the late 70s - the Californian sunshine and studio sets just make viewing all the more enjoyable.

Roll on season 3!!!

I agree about the "feel good" factor that you mentioned. These shows were harmless and always upbeat. You wouldn't feel down after watching these kind of shows in the late 70's. Most of the tv shows back then ended the episode with a happy resolution where everything fell neatly into place with everyone smiling and laughing. I really enjoyed tv in the old days!

You are so right about the feelgood factor. There's a real upbeat feel to the first two seasons. It's a lot of fun to watch (and rewatch) the episodes. I started buying the VHS tapes years ago, then a fan-made DVD set, and now the Universal Releases. I just love these episodes.

I don't mind newer, darker, shows like 24/Lost, etc.

But there needs to be a balance. Sometimes I like to chill out and watch Frank and Joe. I laugh so hard every time Frank ducks out when Joe starts to sing.

When this was on, there was no way I was going to watch it. I mean I was way too serious about music to watch ANYTHING with Shaun Cassidy in it. But when something reminded me of it recently, I thought it would be fun to check it out. Turns out I was right! It's never too late to start having fun.
