Possible episodes had they gone to a 7th Season

This show went from playful cheese to laughable farce, finally descending to maddeningly inane in Season 6.

Who knows what incredible plots a seventh season might have offered.

I touched on a possible ep idea elsewhere:

Season 7, episode 1

"Splash"
In the season opener, while chasing counterfeiters in a souped-up submersible, Ponch meets a mermaid and must choose between a life under the sea (she is magic and can make that possible) or his work as a motorcycle patrol cop; Harlan buys a whale.

Special guest: Lisa Hartman.

In another possible spin-off titled "The Doctor is Out", Ponch and Bruce Nelson pull over a young genius physicist named Dr. Sheldon Cooper that is working on time travel. They are never seen again, and the physicist uses a telephone booth to go back in time to 1976, where a new TV series starring Larry Wilcox and Tom Selleck as CHP motorcycle officers is launched. It runs for almost 20 seasons, even after Selleck leaves after Season 3 to appear on a show set in Hawaii. He is replaced by Brianne Leary, a former military nurse who becomes the first female CHP motorcycle officer. A 1982 episode deals with a line of duty death and the officer is played by Tom Reilly. In his only appearance in the series, he dies of a drug overdose in the opening credits while working undercover.

Special guest: Matt Frewer

This would also allow for an improved CHiPs '99. 

Option: Just as Gunsmoke hovered in the 1870's, the alternate universe CHiPs could hover in the 1970's~80's.

Hollywood: See a gun, hear it get cocked!
