First few episodes of Season 1

I was a kid when CHiPs was first on and I caught an episode here and there in its first run and syndication, but it wasn't a favorite of mine and I don't remember much. I've only become a fan very recently while watching later seasons on MeTV so these early episodes of Season 1 are all new to me. I like some of it (no swamp monsters or school dances in the middle of the day), but I find Ponch kind of annoying in these early episodes; it seems like he's written to be a buffoon, but Erik Estrada, while game in his performance, just has too much natural swagger to be a convincing comic relief partner or constant butt of jokes. Looking forward to the show making some adjustments as the season progresses.
