Randi Oakes

I really enjoyed her on Chips. I like Brianne Leary as well. The one that took over in the last season was ok, but Randi Oakes is the best.

I remember she had a part the season prior as a criminal and she wore a bikini. She looked great. She also ahad a pretty nice scene in a bikini in a movie called Acapulco Gold.

I just saw her last night on MeTV in an episode of McCloud, Our Man in the Harem (1976). She wore a bikini in that episode, too. According to her IMDb filmography the McCloud episode was her first on screen role.

She played a woman had been kidnapped by the son of a foreign sheik and she was made part of his harem. Then the daughter of one of the cops McCloud worked with was also kidnapped by the sheik's son and McCloud went to the foreign country to try and find her. In the end he and his captain rescued all the kidnapped women from the harem.

It also starred Anne Archer as a reporter who was helping McCloud, Murray Hamilton (Jaws) as a crooked businessman, Linda Gray as Murray Hamilton's wife and Michael Ansara as the son of the sheik.

I also found when looking at her IMDb bio that she's married to Gregory Harrison (Trapper John, MD) and has been for nearly 35 years.

She was previously in a relationship with Joe Namath for 5 years and was once engaged to Toto bassist Mike Porcaro, who died from ALS a few days ago at age 59.

I just watced the episode where Randi played a car thief who stole Ponch's Firebird that was ultimately destroyed in a crash at the end of the episode.

Yeah I just saw that ep. the other day too! LOL I liked Ponch's "Barretta, if you can't do the time, don't do the crime" " type speech at the end about how she could have had it all but she chose to go down such a wrong path!

reply

Well she did become a CHiP a little later in the series.

The cast does promos for CHIPS on MEtv.

Randi will be 65 this year and she is still good looking. Aged well in my opinion.

reply

Yes I do watch it on MEtv. Most cast members still look good.

Snap! Just saw that episode. When the Firebird hits the parked car and does the jump-launch-roll, the "hit" car does move an inch, showing how far back the launch ramp must have been. It's hard to belief there was a time when we all thought those dumb car moves made sense. Dukes of Hazzard, anyone? The A-Team? Goodness.

And in that episode, Brianne Leary used the term "women's lib.". Heh.

Randi has the biggest set of chicklets I've ever seen in a mouth..next to a horse of course..
