Where has it gone?

I never see this movie appearing on TV. I would expect it to resurface on cable at some point. Just wondering why it has not made it to even USA or FOx.....

Totally agree ccorriganm . I haven't seen this movie on TV myself since the early 1980's . This was an excellent version of all three A Star Is Born movies . Of course I loved all three too but this one was the very first version I saw before the other two which were just as wonderful as this one . I'm still keeping my eye on the cable channel TCM ( Turner Classic Movies ) to see if this version will be played there ( hopefully by wonderful luck it will be one of these days ? lol ) . Thanks ccorriganm for your subject post .

For some reason my friends you are both 100% right. The last time this was shown on TV was 1 week before Christmas in 2005 on public television (Channel 13 where I live) and it was edited for content. This is a film that I have observed comes and goes every 5 to 6 years. In this case, it is even more. What I am wishing, and I hope you guys are too, is that AMC shows it with the extra scene that was shown when I was growing up on regular TV, with Streisand telling Kristofferson she did not like the Evergreen song she just sang, while he jokingly asks her to marry him. She then sings the song the way she wants to. We even here the music before she starts. It is also not the same version in the DVD extras. Of all Streisand films, ASIB is the least shown, despite the fact it was always her most talked about film in her career as well the most successful one. I hope I was able to help and let's keep hoping the original TV version will be shown on AMC-TV, as they have done with other films, like The Breakfast Club, Halloween II and III, and The Bodyguard in past years. Always yours, Joseph

PS My friends, every time I have seen TCM show a Streisand marathon, ASIB is not included. It is a mystery, since this was the first film she was involved with behind the camera as Executive Producer!

Just wanted you to know...it's been on the Ovation channel a bunch of times recently. It's on right now...as I write this! And it's on again immediately following this airing. If you see this and have the Ovation channel on your cable/dish line-up, I hope you can see it.

Thanks! I will DVR it. Watching Opening Ceremonies at Olympics. Missed Beijing.

My pleasure~ It wasn't easy trying to watch the opening ceremony of our beautiful Olympics while flipping to A Star Is Born during every commercial! I was being silly...I see the movie anytime.

Aired this evening on Ovation channel. It's airing again twice on Sun 3/17/13 and once on Tues 3/19/13.

Brings back a lot of memories watching this. It was popular movie in my senior year of High School.

I still have my soundtrack LP.

Man, am I glad I caught this. I made it through the first few songs and was interrupted. I didn't get back until basically the end, so I mentally gave a fatalistic shrug and, although I kept the TV on, I wasn't paying attention any more. Then in the background I heard Barbra sing With One More Look at You and segue into Watch Closely Now, and all of a sudden time had passed and I was sitting there thinking, "where did these tears rolling down my cheeks come from?"

It's on tonight in ovation tv

Redbox instant streaming has it in HD, watched it for the first time in years

Watching it now on Cinemax. Movie channels seem to rotate available stock, so I imagine it goes in and out of availability with different networks.
