I watched it. It was great. Too bad it hasn't been on television. I didn't realize how accomplished Irene Cara was (aside from the Academy Award). I wish they would release 'Sparkle' on DVD with extras (though that is probably hoping for too much from Hollywood. Just like hoping for a cast album of the soundtrack. That said, whoever said they should do a remake is right. I think Beyonce would make a great Sista and Ashanti a good Sparkle. Stix would have to be someone younger than Ginuwine though. Usher or Mario maybe...

yeah, she's so much more than "fame" and "flashdance". hope to see her do some more things like guest spots on upn or another great theme song!

How about they keep all of us happy by re-releasing the album with the entire original Sister & the Sisters singing (Irene, Leonette, & Dwan? What?!), the Curtis Mayfield demos and a special edition DVD with extras & interviews?

Hahaha, let me stop dreaming. Please, a Hollywood studio putting that much into a Black film? Heeheehee...

Maybe they're holding for the rumoured remake and big campaign like with the Warriors? Doubt it, but it's nice to think about.
