I've literally been watching this film since birth. It's a classic and I honestly don't think a remake can do it justice. Lonette Mckee sang her own vocals and executed the character of Sister to perfection. Irene Cara did the same with the role of Sparkle. Mary Alice as the mom. The cast was perfection and the soundtrack by Aretha Franklin was beyond perfection. The new cast apparently is Jordin Sparks as Sparkle, Paula Patton as Sister, and Whitney Houston as the mom. Mike Epps as Satin? I just don't like the look of this. I adore Whitney as a singer but let's be honest, everything beyond "Bodyguard" was mediocre at best. Paula Patton is a good actress is my opinion, but is she a singer? I've never seen Jordin act and i'm not too familiar with her voice but I've heard it's very nice. Finally, Mike Epps is a comedian yet Satin was no joke and I've never seen Epps play any serious roles. Looks to me like the director is going to try to take a "Dreamgirls" approach to this film, but I have a feeling it's going to fall short. I would have much more liked to see a theatrical production of "Sparkle" than a film remake. Oh well we shall see what happens. I do appreciate the fact that it has the ability to introduce a new audience to the original version because it truly is a gem of a film with an imperative message.

Bitchy. Bitchy, darling
