The New 'The Ritz' on broadway...

To tell you all the truth I'm not very happy with this. I can't see Googie Gomez beeing done by someone else other than Rita Moreno. Rita invented this character years before it was even made into a story. No one can do this character better than RITA DOES IT!!!

But I still wouldn't mind watching it. Hopefully I'll get to see it on Broadway.

Man, I'll do anything to be able to watch the original in 1974 :-(

I saw the Studio 54 stage version last Friday. It seems even more like an outrageous farce on stage than it does on film. For the most part, I like the comic timing of the actors in the movie more. However, Rosie Perez is just excellent in her show tunes medley scene. Once again, Googie Gomez is so bad she's great!

The Ritz is my all time favorite movie. The broadway show we went to see a few weeks ago and it is EXCELLENT. The show is virtually identical to the movie except that the hot men are all live. Googie Gomez, Rosie Perez is as good as Rita Moreno was in the movie and the original screenplay. If you get the chance, go see it.

I saw it tonight (never saw the movie) and it was just hilarious.
