More Look Likes Actors Should Play the Pink Panther Cast

There's a movie that Steve Martin plays Chief Insp. Jacques Clouseau.
Even though Martin is brilliantly funny, he doesn't remotely look like an Insp. Clouseau. On the other hand, there's David Arquette who played Joey in the Scream series. Arquette has that "Clouseautte" clueless behavior, plus the mustach. David Arquette is much younger and looks more "Clouseausette" than Martin. I think David Arquette could pull out playing Chief Insp. Jacques Clouseau. Byron Mann would be excellent choice for Cato Fong and Gene Wilder for Chief Insp. Charles Dreyfus.

Don't do any remakes at all. You don't tamper with the classics. If it doesn't have Peter Sellers, Herbert Lom etc. in it, it isn't the Pink Panther.

With all due respect, the character of Clouseau should have died along with Peter Sellers. No other actor can replace him in this role, he was a one off. I couldn't believe it when i heard about this movie and will not watch it in the theatre. I'm loathe to even watch once it's on DVD, much as I'm a fan of Steve Martin.

I don't know, I mean Peter Sellers sure is irreplaceble, but I wouldn't go as far as saying the same about Clouseau. Of course, all the panthers made after Sellers death were disappointing; Steve Martin was totally miscast (he's too much of an all American smartmouth comedian, completely wrong to play a terminally buffoonish clumsy frenchman; if you don't get what I´m saying, just watch "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" and you'll understand); and the plot and jokes of this new Panther are miles and miles away from the refinement of the old ones. But I guess with a more appropriate lead (say, Rowan Atkinson - he was the first name that came to my mind when I heard that this movie was on the works; I think he would've made a perfect new Clouseau; and I say new Clouseau because I know Sellers' Clouseau is impossible to recreate, but it would be a fresh, new approach to the character, without ignoring the personality traits that make Clouseau what he is)and a more exciting plot, the series could've been joyfully brought back and delight old and new fans.
If the James Bond series didn't loose it's appeal after Sean Connery took off, I suppose there's (or was)still hope for the Pink Panther.
