I Have Tried To Watch The Pink Panther Movies However

I Have Tried To Watch The Pink Panther Movies However They Just Seem Sophomoric To Me.

I love the 3 stooges (with Curley) and other slapstick type films but I just do not laugh at the Pink Panther movies.

I like Abbott and Costello films, as does comedian Jerry Seinfeld.

I also do not care for Laurel and Hardy for some reason.

Not trying to HATE, just expressing my experience.

Maybe if I smoked weed, I would enjoy them. I just am at a loss.

The first film The Pink Panther (1963) is more on a serious bent with slight comedy of errors mostly around the bumbling detecive. I see Seller's role more as a cameo. The comedy towards the end is more slapstick, from the mirror matching [first seen I belive in Marx Brothers Duck Soup] of the two "apes" thru the after final party chase scene.

The second film I find more enjoyable as a extension of the original film but as a nice stand alone film. The comedy is well rounded with the story.

For me the rest of the Pink Panther films are hit or miss, some scenes are better than others but most involve Peter Sellers trying to force the comedy at times. In this film I find the world assassin scenes until final 3 attempts pretty much filler. Other filler parts are the amount of time Dreyfus spends soon after his "escape" at Chief Inspector Clouseau's apartment. Going from trying to bump Chief Inspector Clouseau off only to give up and just form a massive scheme to try to encourage even more attempts on Chief Inspector Clouseau's life.

Anyway I enjoy Clouseau/Seller over the Three Stooges any day, as Seller was literally a better actor than those guys that pretty much did the same basic skit over and over. Even Shemp's role in 'African Screams' was an extension of his work with the 3 Stooges.
