Don't you hate(No, I'm not Andy Rooney)
Well, I do: when an otherwise watchable older film and/or an actor's performance includes stuff where they re-recorded dialogue. The words never fit right, often not sounding right. It is very jarring to the spell of the film(like outdated special FX).
I was watching this as a fan of Jack and Marlon. And Marlon is very funny(and creepily kooky). I just wish that fine performances like these were not marred with that technique. I guess it has to do with technical problems that must now be largely overcome. I have noticed it a lot in pictures of the 60s and 70s, particularly in outdoor scenes. I don't recall seeing this problem much in films after that, even low-budget ones.
It is virtually as disconcerting as watching dubbed foreign-language films. Maybe more so because it is an off and on again occurrence.
