shareThey had been friends since childhood but over time as adults the original friendship obviously became strained and voided because of the detail revealed of Nicky's demeaning treatment of Mikey. The movie is really about the conflict of emotions for Mikey who has indeed been hired to assist in Nicky's murder and on one hand is more than willing to do so because of Nicky's obnoxiousness and two-timing but on the other hand seems to be at times genuinely bonding with him while reminiscing on their past friendship and childhood memories and so on some level has second thoughts of perhaps actually letting him get away.
