Why does Mary Lou run screaming from bed?

I get why she is freaked out when she first sees "Tommy's" inhuman appearance as he walks by her. But then she collects herself, takes off her clothes, and gets in bed with him and begins to touch him tenderly. This is intercut with images (one assumes) of Thomas making love with his wife from his home planet. Then Thomas touches Mary Lou, gets some liquid on her (does he ejaculate from his hand?!?), and she jumps out of bed and runs away screaming. What exactly happened there?

Maybe she thought it was venom?!

It's not "sci-fi", it's SF!

I'm thinking exactly that - his alien body ejaculates from all over (notice the cuts of him with his alien wife, covered in goo) and maybe the actual contact with that (plus the shock of feeling his Ken doll crotch) shook her confidence..

Makes sense, thanks!

My question is how that works for the alien female? Like does it get pregnant through her skin, osmosis style? If so it kinda gives meaning to suits they wear head to toe, lol

Immaculate conception comes to mind. Her name just happens to be Mary (Lou). Coincidence? doubtful

He ejaculates from his pectorals! That is what scared her and what would likely scare any Earthling.
