Please, does anyone know the title of the piece of music when..........

......we see Rip Torn's character for the first time, as he's walking out of school? I think that it's at the beginning of chapter 3 on the Blu-ray. The music is also in the trailer for its 35 year re-release. The music starts at 0.44:

It is listed on IMDB in the soundtrack section:

Devil's On the Loose
(instrumental) written by John Phillips

Song is used as the "Nathan Bryce" theme when his character is first introduced on a college campus.

The track you are looking for is on the bonus CD that is part of the
40th anniversary blu-ray box set:

It's track 14,, called 'Bryce'.

Sadly, the "Bryce" that is on the new bonus CD for the Blu Ray is not the track that was in the film. It is a country tune, assume one that Phillips composed but was not used in the movie. After all these years and a double CD and a bonus CD, still no proper "Bryce". Maybe It's lost. Soul crushing.
