I'm surprised they haven't made a prequel TV series about the character of Margaret White in her younger years. Or a movie. I think it would be pretty interesting, like, why did she turn out the way she did? Am I the only one?

I think her parents died at an early age, and she was raised by nuns. The nuns, of course, "taught" her that everything that gave happiness was a sin. That sex was only to produce a baby. They probably punished her for every little thing and made her pray most of the day.
She eventually did marry. A man who had a similar past, but he was raised by a priest after the death of his parents.
Sex was only to produce their child.
He died in an accident, and she was convinced it was a punishment for sin.
So, she became even more rigid as she raised her child.
