Not sure what part you mean. Tommy gets hit with the bucket, he falls down and that's the last time he moves.

I watched at least one remake of CARRIE, and it was entertaining ... had some decent special effects.

But without the superb cast in the original, plus a dynamite director, it was bound to arrive a bit limp -- at least by comparison. If I hadn't seen the original (dozens of times, at least) and read the book, I might have thought better of the remake.

Still, the remake(s) are worth watching, if you can catch them for free on cable. It will make you appreciate the original even more, probably.

Late reply, but yes, it would have been very likely to seriously injure or kill Tommy. The bucket probably weighs at least a pound, falling from a height of 10 to 15 feet (closer to the latter given what we see of the stage) would be a considerable impact when falling.

Firstly, as already pointed out by others, she didn't attack Tommy. And secondly... what's it mean "only one who wasn't laughing"? There were only two or three people among the audience who WERE laughing.

and let's be honest... if you had that happen to you [being a mousy loner, getting invited to the prom by the derek jeter of your school, getting voted as queen of the prom only to have blood or whatever [she didn't know what it was] dumped on you in front of everyone] you'd be in a fugue, too.

why can't people be okay with her [and other human characters in tv and film] being a human beings???

it is completely normal and natural for her to be in a trance after all that went down.

She thought they were all laughing at her, even if some of them weren't. I think her emotions just took over. It seemed like they'd all laughed or were part of the prank. Maybe she thought Tommie helped set her up.

From what I remember...she didn't. He was knocked unconscious from the bucket of blood. But he was ultimately finished off and killed by the fire and destruction from the prom night massacre. I always wondered why Carrie didn't go through more effort to save him, seeing that he was the only person who treated her with respect and asked her to prom. You'd figure she would've wanted him to live. But after the whole bucket of blood prank ordeal, I think her sanity was long gone, and she went into a blind rage.

In the movie it's unclear if the bucket killed him, in the book it did kill him so since the film follows the book so closely I'm going with the bucket killed him.

I just assumed she snapped in general and began lashing out at anybody in her path. yeah it's unfortunate that people who actually had not been mean to her were killed but they were collateral damage.
