40th Anniversary

I know I'm exactly one month late, as this movie opened in theaters on April 7, 1976, but I'd still like to ackowledge its 40th anniversary today. I don't actually remember when it opened, I was 8 and near the end of second grade, but I became aware of it and saw it on TV later in the seventies. I also became aware of its two sequels and the TV show that was based on it, which I watched regularly in 1979. I then saw it one or two more times on TV in the early 1980s, then a few more times after that on VHS after we got our first VCR in 1982. I also saw the two sequels on our VCR later in the 1980s, and while I did not like The Bad News Bears Go to Japan and saw it only once, I really liked The Bad News Bears in Breaking Training alot and rented it out several times in the eighties, then taped it off television in the late eighties. It was my favorite of the series, though I also liked this movie, the original, pretty well too. In fact, I ordered them both on DVD from amazon late last year to watch on the DVD player in my apartment. I got TBNBIBT with no problem, but I ordered this one, the original, three times and all three times got Bad News Bears, the 2005 remake instead. That was very frustrating, and I called amazon several times about that, and finally, on the fourth order, I got the correct movie. I saw the remake only once, in a theater when it came out, and did not like it, and gave all three of those copies to a DVD/music store, but I was glad to finally get this one, and plan to watch it some this summer. And happy 40th anniversary to it.

I thought Paramount would issue a Blu Ray release for the 40th Anniversary.
