She's strangling the guy, she looks like a demon from a japanese horror movie and the guys looks like a corpse drained of blood, his eyes are blood shot as well.

Depends on your idea of horror, I'd say it's a romantic drama and not a horror/thriller.
The erotic scenes, of which there are plenty, are pretty graphic. The asphyxiation is more related to romance and sex than to violence.
But eventually it's all in the eye of the beholder.
