Although it appears so from the dialogue...

Did the old geisha who had sex with Kichi die during the act?
They did not seem to have any remorse for it!

I believe she did die. On the remorse topic, I feel they respected her as an elder and the act of sex as her last moment of pleasure; a happy farewell of sorts. Just my interpretation.

thestarchild_90, I believe you're very right. The old lady might not have died though, maybe she was just passed out, overwhelmed with passion, or maybe she did have a heart attack... either way, she most certainly consented, she enjoyed it, and in the end she sure had a smile on her face! This is one of my favorite scenes from the film, it's so funny :)

You can clearly see her breathing. But then again an actor can't hold her breath that long.

Yes, from her still breathing I believe she was still alive. The director wouldn't have left the noticeable breathing in if she was dead.

Also from the chapter titles on the Criterion blu-ray it sounded like the old lady was the owner of the Inn they were staying at. I think she said none of the other girls wanted to serve them because of all the sex they were having.
