japanese people confuse...

Puh-lease, you make the entire nation of Japan sound like some kind of gigantic collective of hippies or something. What about their violent history (civil wars, Sino-Japanese War/WWII...), Aum Shinrikyo, political extremist groups (both right- and left-wing), the yakuza, angst-ridden youth (bullying, hikikomori...) etc. etc.

And while they have a tradition of politeness, what a person actually feels or is thinking about another could of course be something very different than what is being showed outwards.

Sure they have (ultra)violent entertainment. But that's only one part of it. Check out, for example, directors like Yasujiro Ozu, Hirokazu Koreeda or Hiroshi Ishikawa for something completely different.

To summarize: Things are selldom entirely black or white...

You don't seem to know very much about the nation of Japan. Even if you ignore the atrocities that occurred during WW II (they were just as brutal in China as Germany was in Europe), you must be confusing their supposed lack of "violent crime" with the fact that most violent crime there is carried out by the Yakuza (very similar to the mafia).

Most organized crime (pretty much everywhere) is often overlooked, especially by the police. And Japan is no different in this fact. It also helps that there are extremely homogeneous, which does help promote harmony in a society (and often racism as well, something Japan is notorious for).

Their indigenous religion Shinto, like Daoism, does promote peace and respect. But their culture tells quite a different story.

I been to japan in 2012 and they were really nice, even though I didn't understand them I could still communicate with them

HEY Get this straight a movie does NOT represent a whole country. You must be Americans or Brits. As you people always stereotype everyone. YOU are so wrong about Japan my husband is a fellow MD but also is a 3rd Gen Japanese American and half is family lives in Japan and my hubby has lived their quite a bit over the years to learn his culture. NO not all Japanese are peaceful or nice thats only the media or tourist areas.

The Majority of Japanese people out right hate Caucasians and will beat or even kill you if you are in the wrong area's of towns and cities. My cousin is Police officer in Japan she is a motor officer aka motorcycle cop. But her fellow officers in vice and gang divisions have dealt with the same crimes we have. Japan has a youth gang problem that is pretty big in fact.

Japan is NOT what you see on TV. Japan can be a very dangerous place at times. Racism against Caucasians is very ripe there you may not see it on the surface but dig a little and you will.

That's what makes me so mad about you types who ONLY see Japan thru media, learned the language or maybe done a vacation or similar. But if you are NOT Japanese you'll never know how it really is in fact you NEVER will. Manga, Anime and films are fiction people NOT real life. Shogun years, WWII, the JGSDF revolt and the terrorist cult attacks etc etc etc and the gang problems. Japan is NO different than other countries and they can be quite violent like the Yakuza, youth gangs,Korean gangs and other criminals. They are just more subtle about the way they do or report things as the news does not report many things like they do in the west.

Geez! Give your minds a chance for pete's sake. And STOP relating films and media to real life as you people are so naive, stereotypical and ignorant. It's really so laughable.
