Jaclyn Smith and Farrah Fawcett were both from Texas

But they didn't speak with southern drawls. They both spoke with New York accents.

Most actresses from the south learn to speak without southern accents. It's no different than the ones from Australia learning to sound American.

Do you mean a generic "Midwest Vernacular" accent like most news anchors and television actors have, or a true "Noo Yawk" accent like Kate Jackson used when undercover a few times? If it's the latter, I have never gotten the impression that either of them spoke remotely like a "Noo Yawka".

If you listen carefully, Farrah, Jaclyn, and Kate, especially Kate, all have an occasional, subtle southern inflection in their words but it isn't common. They all learned to drop their southern accents pretty well, IMHO. Not that that's a good thing, just that it was probably what they had to do to not be typecast as airhead southern belle types during the era in which they worked. Hopefully people are a little more educated and accepting about that now and don't automatically equate a southern accent with being uneducated or simple.

I was born and raised in the Great Lakes Region but I love southern accents. I find them charming.

I like to watch NASCAR on TV but always with the mute button on. The announcers' southern White trash Tobacco road so-called English makes me crazy.

I actually find the southern accent much more pleasant to the ears than that loud "Noo Yawk" honk of people like Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump. That really grates on my nerves. I find it to be quite "HAAAR-ible" and "AUWWW-ful".

Picture young Jaclyn Smith or Farrah Fawcett, a la season one of CA, speaking with a Bernie Sanders accent. Ugh.

The only Southern accent I ever REALLY enjoyed was when Kelly was selling the fake Mayan artifacts to Harley Dexter.

The difference with Kate, was that she was from the "deep south", Alabama, much different than Houston. And Jackson's drawl may have been a factor with her career ,since she could sound like she was whining (protracted) her words. (even though I like Jackson)

I love Kate Jackson's slight Alabama accent. And her voice. Both added a lot to her charm.
