Cheap Production Values

Compared to Charlie's Angels and even Wonder Woman Universal which is notoriously cheap in this era really pulled out all the low budget tricks, that and the bad acting is why I think this show doesn't hold up that well.

Sigh, I know... an Emmy for lead actress in a drama series, 2 seasons in the top 20 (season 1 ranked #5 for the year), all 3 seasons released on dvd, plus ANOTHER box set being released in October, even a recent comic book based on the series... yeah, nobody remembers this show, or the actress, Lindsay Carter or something like that.

Well watching it now I just never realized how bad it was. Don't get me wrong I love programs from this era but this show bores the hell out of me. The opening music is god awful so are the opening credits. I don't get how anyone really likes this show. It's not even bad enough to be campy like CHIPS or Wonder Woman.

reply

Too bad dude. You just don't get it.

The show obviously doesn't hold up well(When comparing it to today's shows) is because it's possible it could be dated you think?!? "Six Mill" and "Bionic Woman" were high tech in their day and ahead of their time. Pure classics as is their opening theme music. I'm sorry you don't get the shows but I love these shows.

reply

Exactly. I would ask them what they think of the original Star Wars movie and its special effects. That looks really dated too. But it was considered great back in the 70s.

This show had terrific production values for it's time. The theme music is comparable to movie soundtrack values using a full orchestra. The special effects were high tech at the time. Of coarse it's dated 40 years later. She won an Emmy for her performance. You wouldn't understand how huge this show was unless you grew up during the time this originally aired. The show provoked the imagination of us children and it is beloved.
