Brand names

As far as I can tell the only genuine products shown in the film are alcohol - Walker Red Label in Eyesight for the blind, Veuve in the champagne scene, Teacher's whiskey, Newcastle Brown Ale. Other brands that appear were made up for the film - Rex's Beans for example, or are generic no brand products.

Any truth to this, or did I just miss some things and see significance in the booze?

If it is the case... is there any significance/meaning behind it?

Ken Russell used to be a director for television commercials in his early days. He did commercials for beans, laundry soap and chocolate so I think that was the basis for the "Champagne" scene and its underlying criticism of consumerism. Those are the "made-up" product names, whereas the others in the film were real.
