Saw it last night at the ZIEGFELD in NYC

As part of their Classic Rock Movies program, the legendary Ziegfeld theatre in New York City showed TOMMY last saturday the 28th & monday the 30th of April. I caught it last night. It was GLORIOUS. Beautiful print. And they played it LOUD. This will forever be one of my favorite films ever. Seeing the big finale with Roger Daltrey climbing that steep mountain on the Lakeshore District that Ken so dearly loved & shot several of his films on, I was really moved.
This film is pure genius.

Isn't it great on the big screen..It was killer the first few times I saw it..Went back several times...I was a big Who fan anyway, so this just made it better..Plus my name is Tommy..No big deal now, but as a kid I got a real kick out of that....

There's no substitute for seeing it on the big screen but it looks pretty good on blu-ray on my 60" LED TV, I must admit.

Ironic. I saw it when it opened in '75 at the Ziegfeld.

WoW. LUCKY you!

If I had been in NYC that day in '75, after TOMMY had ended, I would have gone directly to 42nd Street in Times Square and hit EACH and EVERY grindhouse on both sides of the street. Can you imagine all the cool, crazy flicks that were playing at the time? THey would've had to scrape me off the Deuce by the time I'd been done, though. But I would've died happy!
