Joanna the Breck Girl

While Joanna was being sketched, Katharine Ross looked alluringly beautiful. She epitomized the Breck Girl style of beauty. Diz may have found her beguiling beauty as challenging as her intellect and ambition. It seemed she was the one who he fell for to the extent that he could fall for anyone.

I would say the only men allowed to move their families into Stepford were ones with wives that appealed to Diz.

Notice that all of the former women were political, artistic and intellectual. He admired that in the women. And he liked it even more that he took it all away from them. Diz is a deeply jealous and psychotic individual.

And I don't think Joanna was the only one he went after. Maybe not all of them. But I definitely think he went after Carol Van Sant. There is just too much personality in the Robo Carol. Just the same way there is too much soul in Robo Joanna's eyes.

I think Diz stole their eyes to give them something of a soul (you know , the old "eyes are the mirror to the soul" bit). It doesn't seem strangulation would be good for the eyes though.

Katharine Ross is incredibly lovely in this film.
