Remake of ROLLERBALL could be successful

ROLLERBALL is a cult-classic sci-fi dystopian movie that has great potential for a remake. Yes, there should be some plot tweaks to make it more palatable yet keep the cerebral social/economic/political/class overtones. Today's technology would have to be added.

It is the game itself, that needs very little revision. My only suggestion would be to add one more rollerball game to the movie, even if it means a slightly longer movie. I liked the original opposing teams of, Madrid, Tokyo, and New York. In the bloody end, it was all regression of 21st century cavemen versus 21st century cavemen to satisfy the bloodthirsty global crowd while brainwashing them about individualism being obsolete.

I can't resist complaining one more time about the 2002 remake which pissed me off because we Rollerball fans were led to believe the 2002 movie was going to be a more or less faithful remake of the 1975 original. I even read that the director was keen for many years on doing a remake. When I watched the movie, I wondered, just what the heck the director had in mind. It was just a crime action flick. I admit to have been too harsh on the 2002 movie, just because its title, 'Rollerball', did not match the movie. Had the director attached a completely different title then this movie could have stood on its own as a simple, near-futuristic, corrupt-rigged, action movie taking place on a motorcycle track. What is needed is either a closer adaptation the book's short story, "Rollerball Murders", or an updated, tweaked version of the 1975 adaptation.

Rollerball was a product of its time. I saw no need for the first remake. I certainly see no need for yet another.
