The incidental music in Rollerball

It's often amusing to look back from our vantage point and see how various Sci-fi movies imagined music to be 30, 40 years in the future. In this movie, the music that is piped in during the party is SO laughable -- it's a weird 70's Funk with an atonal synthesizer melody on top of it -- someone's idea of what music would sound like several decades down the road. Somebody should put out an album of similar hilarious cuts from various Sci-fi movies -- I'm told the Future Disco from Buck Rogers is equally amusing, for example

Andre Previn's "Executive Party" and "Executive Party Dance" are two of the best things about the movie. I wish he'd contributed more original compositions for the film.

The ponderous classical music is not well suited for the half-baked screenplay or shallow characters. A timeless, familiar symphony only clashes with the plethora of forgotten 70s fads that were extrapolated into the future world of Rollerball.

I thought the party scene music was awesome as well and made me look up Andre Previn.

Are you crazy? Andre Previn's Executive Dance Party is vinyl gold! Any Dj or digger can vibe with it.
