It might be coming true apart from the world sport?

When this came out I was 14,kids at school got very excited about it,because of the violence and the fact they could not see it due to age restrictions.
The violence issue meant it got discussed on tv and clips were shown,just annoying the people who could not see it.

Seeing years later on tv the message seemed unrealistic,governments run things don't they?

But many people nowadays can agree with the message of the film but one thing that has not happened is that we don't have the world dominated by one sport.

Unless we mean soccer,writing this means that many Americans will get upset but the fact is that so far the glamour of American sport has not taken over the world.

I know that baseball is popular in the Americas and many people in europe love basketball and they even have American Football in London quite often now but there is no sport that dominates the whole world.

As for the film,I have seen it a few times and it never does much for me,I can't see it is any sort of classic.

So you don't think the huge multi-national companies such as News Corp., Apple, Microsoft, etc. wield much influence globally?

And speaking of "globalization", where everybody is supposed to be competitive in a global world, isn't that reminiscent of the corporate run world we see in Rollerball?

For the game itself, yes I agree with you that the closest pure sport equivalent would be soccer. But on another level, think of the reality TV show contests/ hybrid sports we see, where teams are up against one another.🐭
