Yeah, he's one of my all-time favorite actors. Oates and Peter Fonda made for a terrifically charming and engaging cinematic twosome. Besides "Race With the Devil," they also acted together in "The Hired Hand" and "92 in the Shade." The wonderfully easy'n'breezy chemistry between those two guys is a true joy to behold. Rest in peace, Warren Oates; you are greatly missed and loved by your fans.

Totally agreed. Warren was a terrific actor who slipped into every role seamlessly. He was an everyman actor, with none of the Hollywood phoniness or ego. He made every film worthwhile, and "Race With the Devil" is no exception!
shareI agree. One of the compliments he received was that he was a person who took up the least space in a room. That says a lot about someone, especially someone who was a professional actor. He was ruggedly handsome, too.

shareI agree completely. Right around the same era when RWTD was filmed, Warren Oates played the title role in the movie 'Dillinger'. He went from depression era gangster to one of the victims in 'Race With the Devil' and was terrific in both roles.
