Robertson's Photograph of a Woman

When Locke is going through Robertson's things in Africa he finds a photograph of a woman. This woman is not 'The Girl'.

Has this photograph any purpose?

reply

It will be significant. What I think about it is that Robertson implied he had few ties in the world which enabled him, or drove him perhaps, to keep moving and not settle. The photo suggests that this was not always so but as Locke will discover there was much about Robertson he did not know.

A bird sings and the mountain's silence deepens.
