What's our take on the last few scenes. What does Mrs Appleyard know about Sara, as her being collected was clearly a lie. We can assume the black dress is her giving up on things, but does she know Sara is already dead?

Sarah was crazy, you could see it the way she clung to Miranda. I think all the trouble at the school was to gain Miranda's attention and keep it focused on herself. Once Miranda disappeared, Sarah decided to follow with the added bonus that her suicide would completely destroy Appleyard's school.
Sara committed suicide after learning that she'd be sent back to the orphanage..
and Mrs. Appleyard killed herself at Hanging Rock because of the guilt and knowing that the college is pretty much going to shit
