Was the movie a theater release ? Or made for TV ?

I've just seen it on TV

I saw it in a theater in downtown Radford, VA when I was 14. It was not playing at the new cineplex at the shopping center across the river.

It was in the theaters and believe it or not Corrie and Betsie was my Great Grandmothers cousin! Corrie died on her birthday and if I remember correctly, dying on your birthday is sacred in the Jewish faith.
