Production dates for the Eiger Sanction

does anyone know what the production dates in the USA were for the Eiger Sanction?

reply

I think it was around March or April of 1975. I remember seeing Clint Eastwood being interviewed on TV for his upcoming (or soon to be released) film. The interview was on location in Monument Valley.

But that is just from memory, so I could be wrong.

Thanx Thomasco. That was what I was expecting to hear. April, '75 is probably the time. I own a 1975 Baja Bronco by Stroppe. Two of which were specially made for "The Eiger Sanction". One you see in the film and the other was a support truck with two way radios, a winch and apparantly a very expensive car stereo.
It seems that my Bronco, pictured below, was in fact the support truck for that movie.

Thanx so much for your help.

Rob, it's a pleasure to hear from someone who has some "contact" to the movie. That jeep indeed looks unique. Thanks for posting the picture of it.

May I address your attention to the left-hand column on the main movie page for "Eiger Sanction". There you will see "Release Dates", "Filming Locations", "Box Office & Business", and also very interesing -- "External Reviews". There is a link to a nice review by Roger Ebert. It is dated January 1, 1975, but that may have been a guess after the fact, since the film was released in May. I actually watched Ebert's show back then, but it may have started later. I am pretty sure he and Siskel had a show in the 70's already. Also something cool I noticed on Ebert's page at imdb, he was writer for a couple of Russ Meyer films. Russ Meyer packed more beautiful women into one film than the average man sees in a lifetime. I realize you may already know all this, but just in case...

I also really like this link from the "Miscellaneous" link section for the movie at imdb:
http://www.cinema-astoria.com/cinematography/filminglocation/eigersanction/index.html
The fellow who put that page together must be one serious fan to have spent so much time and money to travel and personally research all the information to this film. And he wrote the text in English, although it is clearly not his native tongue -- "For this shot were three bridges involved" (sounds fine in German, though).
