The cut throat scene

I just rewatched Eiger on DVD after seeing it many years ago as a young boy. It was probably one of the earliest thrillers I saw and I have pretty vivid recollections from watching it. Although I realized upon watching it again there was a lot I didn't remember, one thing I reacted upon was the missing scene where they cut Henry Bacs throat in order to retrive the microfilm he just swallowed. I remember it being something that stuck with me as a child.

But now I read in the alternate version section that it was cut early on and the version I saw as a boy was definately swedish TV. On the DVD I just watched the scene is missing, or rather very short.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Was the graphic version ever released?
