OK, so they use the hostages to get on the plane. What then? Do they think they'll be flown to Algeria, allowed to exit the plane, go through customs and immigration, and just waltz away into a cab and get away scott free? This makes no sense to me.
shareLOL, they thought they were going to rob the bank, get the money and flee. Easy, right. Unfortunately it didn't work out that way.
In the documentary 'The Dog', John said his plan was that Ernie/Liz (Leon in the movie) would show up and they would get a plane to go to Denmark so Ernie/Liz could get her sex-change, but she wouldn't agree to meet with him much less do that (they only spoke over the phone like what was portrayed in the movie), so he came up with another half-baked plan.
