This is one of the only flawless movies ever made...fave lines...

I loved EVERYTHING, it had humor, suspense, sadness, love, fear, action...everything. I memorized every single line.

No one can say that his phone call to his lover, Chris Sarandon wasn't the most heart-breaking, funny perfect dialogue EVER. AND it was ALL improv!!

I love when people ask this: favorite lines? There are so many...

I also have a review of Dog Day published on the Movies quotes and more website: http://www.moviequotesandmore.com/dog-day-afternoon-1975-movie-review/

I have to agree in that flawless in this case was there were no wasted scenes after the robbery got started; everything was used to build the audience's understanding of the main characters. When I saw Sonny's wife, for instance, and her whining, I understood how trapped he felt on that front.

This is Pacino's best performance.

Oh yeah -- fave lines... Well, what else?

Attica! Attica!

Or: "Algeria?... Howard Johnson's?... You're warped Sonny, you're really warped"

I'm laughing out loud right now...I forgot about Algeria, and "cuz they have a Howard Johnson's there".

"I took a half a bottle of pills to get away from you and now I'm talking to you on the phone?"

When that guy runs out to Pacino and starts beating him, in order to get his girlfriend Maria outta there, Charles Durning just goes; "you know how those Spanish kids are".

After they decide on Algeria; "sunny climate, *beep* the snow!"

The head bank teller: "you did this on a whim?"

reply

almost forgot: Leon: "Well, you know, they are really nice to me at the hospital, it's nice there".

Sonny: "So, that's good, you found something."

reply

I couldn't agree more, the movie is perfect, especially the tiniest of details of the heist were carefully constructed and the lines are all so quotable, this movie has wonderful repeat value, not many heist movies have this qualities, character development, pacing and off course AL PACINO...

Why so Serious ?

"W-N-E-N, plays all the hits!"

Definitely agree. It should be ranked up there with The Godfather and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. In no way is this film weak.

Sonny: So what country do you want to go to?
Sal: Wyoming.
Sonny: Sal, Wyoming's not a country.

Government is like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearsome master.

reply

Yeahh the Wyoming line was funny..

Also, at the start of the movie when their third friend quit and went out, he then pointed to Sonny that there is someone under the desk...

When Al came to look, he said "What is this a squirrel?" She really looked like a squirrel with the way she dressed her hair.

Terrific movie and fascinating Al Pacino.

"It's Pacino. It's enough. At the very least...he'll craft a word or line of dialogue"
