I always saw this film as a commentary on the ups and downs of celebrity...how, in just a day, you can go from celebrated pop hero to completely forgotten, despised and abandoned. Like "Network", that's the takeaway message that really impressed me.
Dog Day is one of those perfect movies. Never gets old. Brilliant character study. Off the charts acting by everbody. And the phrnomenal Sidney Lumet at the helm of yet another masterpiece of American cinema.
